During the Rabi and summer seasons, apart from the orchard area, the remaining cultivable land is utilized for research and demonstration activities on a variety of crops, including vegetables, floricultural crops, oilseeds, pulses and other regionally important crops. During the Kharif season, research efforts are primarily focused on rice cultivation, considering its significance in the Konkan region.
The field trials and experimental activities are conducted by the staff of the Aspee Agricultural Research and Development Foundation. These research programmes are scientifically designed, monitored, and supervised by the faculty members of Dr. Balasaheb Sawant Konkan Krishi Vidyapeeth. The collaborative research undertaken during both Kharif and Rabi seasons aims to evaluate improved production technologies, crop varieties, and sustainable farming practices and the advancement of agricultural science.
Students from Dr. B. S. Konkan Krishi Vidyapeeth, Dapoli (M.S) and Navsari Agricultural University, Navsari, Gujarat also conduct post graduate research at the Tansa Farm by staying at the Farm. There is a student dormitory at the farm.
Also, postgraduate students in the Agricultural Engineering faculty from other state agricultural universities are provided with facilities for postgraduate research work in Agricultural Engineering. This involves designing, fabricating and field testing of crop protection appliances.
"The library has a wide collection of books covering various disciplines of Agriculture and Agricultural Engineering, which are made available to students, enabling them to strengthen their knowledge and effectively support their research and academic pursuits."
